How to Look Your Best in Your Wedding Photo's
Celebrity makeup artist Christina Flach shares her top tips for looking your best in wedding photos.
Your wedding day will go by in the blink of an eye, but your photographs will last forever. As someone who has worked with hundreds of brides over the years, I can tell you that the most beautiful wedding photos aren’t about looking perfect—they’re about feeling relaxed, confident, and truly yourself.
Here are a few of my favorite tips to help you look and feel your best from the first photo to the last dance.
Choose a Photographer You Truly Connect With
Your photographer will be by your side for most of your wedding day, so finding someone whose personality puts you at ease is just as important as loving their portfolio.
Meet with them beforehand, ask questions, and make sure you feel comfortable. An engagement session is one of the best investments you can make. Not only does it give you beautiful photos, but it also helps you get comfortable in front of the camera long before your wedding day.
Find a Quiet Place for Your Portraits
If you’re camera shy, you’re definitely not alone.
One of my favorite tips is to ask your photographer to find a quiet location away from your guests for your portraits. Without everyone watching, it’s much easier to relax, laugh together, and enjoy those special moments with your new spouse.
Those candid moments often become the most treasured photographs.
Invest in Hair and Makeup You Trust
Your wedding day isn’t the time to experiment with a new look.
Choose a hair and makeup artist whose work you genuinely love and schedule a trial before the big day. My goal with every bride is simple—to help her look like the very best version of herself, not someone she doesn’t recognize.
The right hair and makeup should photograph beautifully while still feeling timeless years from now.
Beauty Starts the Night Before
One of the best beauty treatments is completely free—a good night’s sleep.
I know it’s hard to sleep when you’re excited, but getting plenty of rest helps your skin look fresh, your eyes look brighter, and your makeup applies beautifully.
Drink lots of water, avoid too much salt or alcohol the night before, and give your skin a little extra love with a nourishing moisturizer before bed.
Relax and Enjoy the Moment
This may be my biggest piece of advice.
Don’t spend the day worrying about whether every hair is in place or whether you’re posing perfectly.
Smile. Laugh. Hold hands. Look at each other instead of the camera whenever you can. Show how much you love each other.
The most beautiful wedding photographs capture genuine emotion—not perfection.
Years from now, you won’t remember every tiny detail. You’ll remember how you felt when you married the love of your life.
And that’s exactly what your photos should capture.
Let Your Confidence Shine
Every bride deserves to feel beautiful.
When you feel confident, it shows in every photograph. That’s why I always focus on enhancing your natural beauty rather than covering it up.
Your wedding day is about celebrating your love story—not trying to look like someone else.
If you’re getting married and would like personalized bridal hair and makeup, I’d love to be part of your special day. Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony or a large celebration, my goal is to help you look timeless, radiant, and completely yourself.
