The Beauty Lessons I Want Every Teen to Learn
Simple habits, a little definition , and a lot of fun. These are the lessons I want every girl to learn.
One of my favorite things about teaching makeup is showing girls that they don't need a million products or complicated techniques to look beautiful. The best makeup tips for teens are simple: learn a few easy tricks, take care of your skin, and have fun!
Sunscreen is your best beauty investment.
If there's one thing I want every young girl to start doing now, it's wearing sunscreen every single day. Rain or shine! I always recommend a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. Protecting your skin from sun damage is one of the most important beauty habits you can develop, and your future self will thank you!
Clean makeup brushes are just as important as beautiful makeup.
We talk about how important it is to wash your makeup brushes regularly. Dirty brushes collect makeup, oils, and bacteria, which can contribute to breakouts and irritation. I teach the girls how to wash their brushes gently with shampoo and conditioner, rinse them thoroughly, and let them dry completely. And please, never share mascara or eye makeup with your friends!
My favorite makeup tips for teens: make your makeup work harder for you!
You don't need a separate product for everything. I love teaching girls how to use what they already have in their makeup bags.
For example, a matte brown eyeshadow can be used to softly fill in eyebrows with an angled brush. Choose a shade that complements your natural brow color, and use light, feathery strokes.
That same eyeshadow can also be used as eyeliner! With a small angled brush, gently press the color along the upper lash line. It's softer than a traditional eyeliner pencil and perfect for beginners.
I especially love this technique because it defines the eyes without looking too heavy. A little definition can make your eyes look beautiful while still looking like you.
Learn when to stop!
This might be one of the most important lessons I teach, whether you're 12 or 72!
You don't need to wear every product in your makeup bag at once. Sometimes a little blush, a soft wash of eyeshadow, and a pretty lip gloss are all you need.
I always tell my clients:
"Don't let your makeup walk into the room before you do!"
I want people to notice your beautiful eyes, your smile, and your personality, not a face full of makeup.
Makeup should never hide who you are. It should help you feel like the very best version of yourself. That's really the heart of every makeup tip for teens I share.
And most importantly, have fun with it! Makeup washes off. Experiment, practice, laugh at your mistakes, and discover what makes you feel beautiful.
Xoxo,
Christina 💕
