Say Goodbye to Cellulite: My Favorite Tips
Celebrity makeup artist Christina Flach shares her favorite tips for smoother skin in Women’s Fitness Magazine.
Let’s talk about the “C” word—cellulite.
If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and noticed dimples on your thighs or butt, trust me, you’re in very good company. Nearly 90% of women will have cellulite at some point in their lives. It’s incredibly common, and despite what social media would have you believe, it happens to women of every age, shape, and fitness level.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that cellulite only affects people who don’t exercise or eat well. That’s simply not true. Even celebrities, professional athletes, and supermodels have cellulite. The difference? Many of their photos are professionally lit, edited, retouched, or filtered before you ever see them.
So don’t be too hard on yourself.
While there’s no magic cure, there are several things you can do to help improve the appearance of cellulite and support healthier-looking skin.
Dry Brush Before You Shower
One of my favorite self-care rituals is dry brushing. Before you hop in the shower, gently brush your skin in upward circular motions. It feels amazing, boosts circulation, lightly exfoliates your skin, and may temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite.
Put Your Coffee to Work
Coffee isn’t just for your morning pick-me-up.
Caffeine can temporarily tighten the skin and increase circulation. Instead of throwing away your used coffee grounds, mix them with a little coconut oil to create an easy DIY body scrub. Your skin will feel incredibly soft afterward.
Roll It Out
A cellulite massage roller is another great tool to keep at home. It helps stimulate circulation, loosen tight tissue, and temporarily smooth the appearance of dimples. Plus, it feels like giving your legs a mini spa treatment.
Try Lymphatic Massage
I’m a big believer in lymphatic drainage massage. It helps encourage healthy circulation, reduce fluid retention, and leaves your skin looking smoother and feeling refreshed. If regular appointments aren’t practical, there are wonderful at-home tools that can give you many of the same benefits.
Dance More
Here’s one of the easiest tips…
Turn on your favorite music and dance.
Movement is one of the best things you can do for your circulation, your muscles, your mood, and your overall health. The bonus? It’s fun, and it never feels like exercise.
Explore Laser Treatments
Today’s technology offers more options than ever before. Certain laser and radiofrequency treatments can stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of cellulite over time. If you’re considering professional treatments, talk with a qualified skincare or medical professional to determine what may be right for you.
Give Your Skin a Vitamin C Boost
Vitamin C is wonderful for healthy skin. One simple DIY exfoliating scrub combines fresh lemon juice with a little sugar to gently buff away dry skin, leaving your body feeling smoother and brighter.
Feed Your Skin From the Inside Out
Beautiful skin starts with good nutrition.
Fill your plate with colorful berries, leafy greens, healthy fats like salmon and avocado, nuts, and plenty of water. Staying hydrated helps your skin look healthier, while nutrient-rich foods support collagen production and overall skin health.
Remember…You’re Beautiful Exactly As You Are
Cellulite is completely normal. It doesn’t define your beauty, your health, or your confidence.
If improving its appearance helps you feel more confident, wonderful. But don’t let a few dimples stop you from wearing shorts, a swimsuit, or anything else that makes you feel fabulous.
My Favorite Body Products
If you need a little extra confidence for a special event or vacation, these are a few products I love:
Westmore Beauty Body Coverage Perfector for natural-looking, transfer-resistant body coverage.
JLo Beauty Mini Body Trio to help hydrate and temporarily firm the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Body Cream for beautiful hydration and a healthy-looking glow.
At the end of the day, consistency is what makes the biggest difference. Healthy habits, movement, hydration, and taking care of yourself will always do more than chasing perfection. And remember—confidence is the most beautiful thing you can wear.
